Keyhole? Cookie cutter? Pog face? What do you see? 😱

Keyhole? Cookie cutter? Pog face? What do you see? 😱 :

Captured by @NASAHubble, this cosmic keyhole is located inside the Orion constellation, around 1,350 light-years from Earth. This ghostly, cotton candy-like nebula is composed of debris resulting from the birth of a new star, Orionis.

This specific type of formation is called a reflection nebula. Just like how a streetlamp would illuminate fog wrapping around it at night, gas and dust in these nebulae shine from an internal source. In this case, the source of the light is Orionis, located in the center of the image.

Image description: A billowing, ghoulish wisp of gas and dust dominates the image. This cottony debris glows white toward the center, then fades to rusty red along its border. A boldly defined gap in the cloud sits in the center of the image, revealing black space behind it. The source of the glow, Orionis, shows itself as a bright glint just to the left of the nebula’s gap.
