Mars looks brownish-red in this image

 Hello, gorges.⁣

⁣This mosaic of Mars is a compilation of images captured by the Viking Orbiter 1 spacecraft in 2003. The center of the scene shows Valles Marineris, a massive canyon system about 2,500 miles (4,000 km) long and up to 4.3 miles (7 km) deep. By comparison, it’s about 10 times longer, 20 times wider, and five times deeper than one of Earth’s largest gorges, the Grand Canyon.⁣
